About the Mentor

Sowmya Subramaniam

Helping learners build strong foundations, achieve ambitious academic goals, and make confident decisions about their education and careers.

Senior Mathematics, Data Science & AI Educator

Academic and career consultant for learners navigating school, college, tests, projects and study-abroad decisions.

With more than 25 years of teaching and mentoring experience, Sowmya has guided approximately 1,500 learners across India, the United States, Australia, the Gulf and other international cohorts.

Her work spans school mathematics, competitive examinations, university-level mathematics, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, capstone projects and university admissions. She helps learners move from concept clarity to problem-solving confidence, examination performance, project execution and stronger academic or career outcomes.

Whether she is teaching calculus to a school student, preparing a learner for a high-stakes examination, mentoring a postgraduate Data Science cohort or guiding an AI capstone project, her focus remains the same: structured learning, measurable progress and lasting understanding.

Sowmya's academic foundation began with a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Madras, followed by an M.Sc. in Mathematics from IIT Madras and an M.S. in Mathematics from San Jose State University. Over the years, she has added formal training in business analytics, data science and generative AI through programs connected with Great Learning, UT Austin McCombs School of Business, Microsoft, upGrad and DeepLearning.AI.

Her test-prep work is supported by ETS Certified GRE Trainer and College Board Certified SAT Trainer credentials. A publication reference, Optimal Partitions of Data in Higher Dimensions, is available through NASA DASHlink.

Sowmya has mentored learners in university-affiliated postgraduate and Master's programs across Mathematics for AI, Machine Learning, Applied Statistics, Data Wrangling, Real-World Analytics and AI Engineering. Her broader work includes corporate AI and data science training, curriculum development, assessment design, faculty coordination and global quantitative test preparation.

Through Great Learning and Deakin University-linked programs, Sowmya has supported learners in advanced Data Science and AI topics including Mathematics for Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Modern Data Science, Azure Computer Vision and Engineering AI Solutions. She has also supported IIT Bombay's ePGDCSE program through foundational mathematics teaching assistance, content development and assessment design.
